Advice to visitors

Follow these tips for an unforgettable experience!

Useful facts

Health precautions

Although the Pic du Midi is committed to accessibility and offers a warm welcome to all disabled visitors, it should not be forgotten that this is a high mountain site. As a result, a number of precautions need to be taken, and certain health problems are not compatible with altitude.

It is up to you or your doctor to decide whether your state of health is compatible with a rapid ascent to an altitude of almost 3000 m, in particular :

Pregnant women

People at risk of heart disease

Children under 3 years

*Why it is unadvised to bring the toddlers?
The inner ear of children under the age of 3 is not sufficiently developed to withstand the pressure of such a rapid journey. The difference in altitude between La Mongie and the Pic du Midi (1,077 m) is covered in less than 15 minutes. From the age of 3, the body reacts naturally, allowing the child to complete the ascent without danger.

Recommendations

Given the weather conditions and the high altitude, we particularly recommend that you dress and protect yourself accordingly. We strongly advise you to bring warm clothing, even in summer, sunglasses and a highly protective sun cream.
