Do you have a disability or are you elderly and dreaming of reaching for the sun or the stars? Most of the facilities at the Pic du Midi have been adapted to offer you an unforgettable experience.

Throughout the year, the Pic du Midi welcomes people with all kinds of disabilities*, whether or not they are in wheelchairs. We regularly receive groups of disabled or elderly visitors. They benefit from our wheelchair-friendly facilities, including step-free access. The capacity of the cable car cabins is also adapted according to the number of wheelchairs involved. If you need any assistance, our disability-friendly teams are on hand to help you throughout your journey. Type '/' for commands

Despite our best efforts, some places are not accessible to certain types of disability.

This is the case for our overnight accommodation, which was developed a few years after we opened to the public, by reallocating rooms previously used by site staff. Access to these two floors is via several staircases. Unfortunately, if you are in a wheelchair, you will not be able to spend the night at Le Pic.

A little boy in starland
10-year-old Thomas, who has a motor disability, climbed to the summit of the Pic du Midi in his wheelchair. Accompanied by his assistance dog, it was an exceptional experience. And it was with cheeks rosy from the fresh air and eyes full of wonder that he returned home. To thank us, he sent us a few photos of his visit.
Note: although our friends the beasts are forbidden at the top for reasons of hygiene and safety, assistance dogs are exceptionally accepted subject to some precautions.
Quand les sensations vont au-delà de la vue
L’aventure au sommet ce n’est pas qu’un panorama. C’est ce que nous a appris un petit groupe d’aveugles venu profiter d’une journée au Pic. The adventure to the summit is also an emotional one. So is the journey by cable car in the middle of nowhere... the sound of the cabin rising into the sky, the gentle rocking. Once you've reached the summit, you'll also feel the wind, the sun, the crisp air, the different atmosphere 'down below', the cries of the birds and dozens of other sensations that are a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
A delighted companion
For the educator who took his group to the summit, the experience was also unforgettable and full of emotion. He saw his mentally handicapped residents experience the Peak 100%. The ride up in the cable car and its disconcerting movements, the slight vertigo due to the altitude, the remarkable view, the snow but also the fun experiences around the visit at altitude. A real discovery for these young disabled people. A unique experience for those accompanying them.
