The Pic du Midi is the ideal excursion in the Pyrenees for group trips. With a personalised welcome and delicious regional specialities, you’re guaranteed a unique high-mountain experience.
From the comfort of a glass-walled cabin, you set off on a spectacular ascent. The Pic du Midi cable car – or rather cable cars, as there are two of them – takes you up over 1,000 metres in altitude to a truly exceptional location. At 2,341 metres, at the Taoulet midway station, you change cabins to reach the summit.
The cabins can accommodate up to 45 people, and the whole group can enjoy the thrills and excitement of a spectacular ascent to a historic and scientific site high in the mountains.

Since the 18th century, the Pic du Midi has appeared to be a site with an ideal geographical position and atmospheric conditions suited to observation. For over a century and a half, people have been passionate about the Pic du Midi. They have worked tirelessly to build a place to live and develop scientific research. The museum tells this human and scientific story. The images bear vivid witness to living conditions and man's cohabitation with nature at an altitude of 2,877 metres. Le Pic du Midi invites you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Pic’s pioneers. On the programme: sunset, a traditional dinner, stargazing, a tour of the scientific facilities… This programme can be combined with a meeting, whether a full day, a half-day, or even a ski descent during the winter!
The 15 fully renovated rooms are those traditionally used by the Observatory’s staff. They all offer breathtaking views of the Pyrenees mountain range.

School Offer
A site open all year round
The Pedagogical Support Group for the PIC du Midi (GAPPIC, under the 1901 law) brings together teachers and researchers from the Observatory. Its mission is to make it easier for teachers to use the site for their school projects.

This site, designed to help teachers prepare for their visit, provides games and thematic sheets on astronomy, mountains and science. These materials help pupils to better understand the scientific challenges of the site, while making their experience more immersive.
The Pic du Midi is regularly visited by schools. It's the ideal educational excursion, where educational discovery and leisure make sense. Landscape interpretation, wildlife observation, the history of the site, astronomy and scientific experiments are just some of the themes that can be proposed.
Discovery class at the Pic du Midi
A discovery class on the theme of astronomy is ideal on a site like the Pic du Midi. Educational projects are organised on different themes, such as the study of the solar system. At the foot of the Pic du Midi, there are accommodation facilities for school classes. Approved associations provide activities including workshops, evening entertainment and, of course, a guided visit to the summit of the Pic du Midi.
