The Pic du Midi is much more than just an exceptional panorama. It's also an unrivalled playground for freeride skiers, offering spectacular descents in an unspoilt natural environment.

At an altitude of 2877 metres, the Pic du Midi offers some of the best freeride runs in Europe. With over 1,000 metres of vertical drop, you'll descend on virgin slopes, between snow-covered ridges, technical couloirs and vast fields of powder.

This is pure adventure, for experienced skiers and snowboarders only. Here, the two cable car sections of the Pic du Midi open onto a completely unsupervised, unsignposted and undeveloped high mountain area.

Safety and accompaniment

To ensure the best possible experience, we strongly recommend that you are accompanied by a mountain professional. Local guides and instructors will help you choose the best routes, while ensuring your safety in the face of avalanche risks and weather conditions.

The main runs from the Pic du Midi

• From La Mongie to Artigues-Campan, take the "Coume du Pic" route, with its 1,700m vertical drop and 10km descent.

• From Barèges to the Tourmalet chairlift, Pic du Midi ski passes include the return to La Mongie via this lift.

From the Taoulet intermediate station at 2341 m, the "La Jaune", "La Verte" and "La Violette" routes continue the Pic du Midi itineraries.

The different ski passes allow you to ski these routes alone, or to discover the whole of the Grand Tourmalet ski area.

Freerider Shuttle

If you're skiing down to Artigues from the Pic du Midi or the Taoulet, the Freeriders' Shuttle will take you free of charge from the Relais d'Arizes in Artigues to the cable car station at La Mongie.
