The Pic du Midi is much more than just an exceptional view. It’s also an unparalleled playground for freeride skiers, offering spectacular runs in a pristine natural setting.

At an elevation of 2,877 meters, the Pic du Midi offers freeride routes renowned as some of the best in Europe. With over 1,000 meters of vertical drop, you’ll descend pristine slopes, navigating snow-covered ridges, technical couloirs, and vast fields of powder snow.

This is an adventure in its purest form, reserved for experienced skiers and snowboarders. Here, the two sections of the Pic du Midi cable cars open up to a ski area that is entirely high-mountain terrain—unmonitored, unmarked, and undeveloped.

The main routes from the Pic du Midi

• Running from La Mongie to Artigues-Campan, the “La Coume du Pic” route features a 1,700-meter elevation drop over a 10-kilometer descent.

• From Barèges to the Tourmalet chairlift, Pic du Midi lift tickets include the return trip to La Mongie via this chairlift.

From the Taoulet intermediate station at 2,341 m, the “Yellow,” “Green,” and “Purple” routes continue on from the Pic du Midi routes.

The various lift tickets allow you to ski only on these trails, or to explore the entire ski area of the resort Grand Tourmalet

Freeriders Shuttle

If you ski down to Artigues from the Pic du Midi or the Taoulet, the Freeriders Shuttle will take you back up for free from the Relais d’Arizes in Artigues to the cable car station in La Mongie.
