Your programme

The ascent

Your programme begins with a cable car ride up the mountain. You can, of course, access the site at the start of the day, but by taking the cable car in the afternoon (before 3.30 p.m.), you will already be able to witness the mysteries of the setting sun. The mountains begin their game of hide-and-seek with the emerging shadows, and the magic begins to work.

At the top

Once at the summit, it's time to explore the site: the panoramic terraces, of course, but also the Espace Expériences, where you can immerse yourself in the major research themes of the Pic du Midi: the Sun, cosmic rays, stars, the atmosphere and meteorites. A detour to the Ponton dans le Ciel is a must for a dose of vertigo with a view.

At 3.30 p.m. (4.30 p.m. in February/March), head to the summit Planetarium to explore the constellations and embark on a real journey into space.

Sunset time at the top

Finally, the long-awaited magical moment arrives: watching the sun set and the stars come out at the summit, before taking the cable car back down to La Mongie.

Observations at La Mongie

Wrapped up warm, you take part in the astronomy activities. Passionate astronomers and scientists accompany you as you observe the night sky with the naked eye and through telescopes from La Mongie, in the heart of the Pic du Midi International Dark Sky Reserve: the moon, galaxies, star clusters and planets. This wonderful programme ends around 10 p.m. with stars in your eyes and dreams as vast as the universe that was yours for one evening.
